Patrons rave about the generous portion sizes. The seafood boils and sharing platters are particularly popular, often enough to satisfy a small group. The shrimp, hailed as tender and flavorful, consistently impresses diners. Many reviewers appreciate the attentive service, with staff readily responding to requests, enhancing the dining experience. Mocktails and signature desserts, especially the apple crumble, are noted as highlights, making meals memorable.
The affordability factor also bears mention. While one could opt for pricier dishes, there’s still great quality to be found within the cheaper platter options. This creates a broad appeal across different budgets, ensuring everyone can enjoy a satisfying meal here and still have a good time.
Most Disliked
Some diners mention the pricing as a concern, viewing it as slightly high, particularly for popular weekend visits. This could deter those on a tighter budget who crave seafood. Others note that while the food presentation is often praised, the wait times can vary, especially during peak hours, with some meals taking around 30 minutes to arrive.
The restroom maintenance is a recurring feedback point, with some suggesting improvements could be made. A well-kept public restroom speaks volumes about a restaurant's attention to detail, and this aspect could use more attention to enhance the overall experience.

Excellent food. Big portions. The staff was very attentive. Great attention to detail. Changing our bin 2 times during our meal. Very fast. The food was served in less than 10 minutes.
Had good time, friendly staff, tasty food platter we eate. Quantity provided was sufficient along with plenty rice and chips well thought then others, value for money reasonably charged which is plus point, great work guys will definitely vist again and will recommend others who are seafood lovers. Keep the same unique concept of no menu overpricing/quantity/quality/ambience which is best I have seen comparing others seafood places and you are doing great.
Excellent. Went with my mum and sister and the food tasted fab; you get your money's worth. Polite staff and friendly environment great for a night out and family. Apple crumble was gorgeous. I asked for more custard, and they happily provided it. We went for the most expensive boil, which has two lobster tails and bigger sized shrimps. We also each had cocktails and dessert, hence the price per person was high but you can still have a good time for less than £20pp if you go for the cheaper platters (quality is the same and the smaller shrimps are still a great size). So something for every budget. Toilet wasn't bad but could be better maintained. I am already planning to return with my husband and kids. They loved the leftovers we brought home.
Great location, there's a car park opposite the building. Great service, will visit again
If you’re a seafood lover, Shrimp Shack in Birmingham city centre is a must-visit! The restaurant is very popular, so booking a table in advance—especially on weekends—is highly recommended. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a cozy vibe that makes you feel right at home. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. One thing to note is that you pay for your food upfront when ordering, which isn’t an issue but worth mentioning. Our food took about 30 minutes to arrive, but it was absolutely worth the wait. The presentation was top-notch, and every bite was delicious. The shrimp was perfectly cooked—so tender that it practically melted in your mouth. We ordered a platter for three, and the portion was generous, easily satisfying all of us. The only downside is the pricing, which is a bit on the higher side, likely due to its central location. However, for the quality of food and experience, it’s justifiable. Highly recommend Shrimp Shack for seafood enthusiasts. It’s a gem in the heart of Birmingham.
Good food, portions are great and the sauces are a great complement to the meals. Our servers were both really good, and despite being busy they stopped at our table to make sure everything is fine. Had sea food boil platter for one and had plenty to takeout
